January, 2008:

Even though the ground is covered with never ending snow, it's time to look ahead to the new season of golf around the corner. Hopefully, there will be an early start to the spring this year.

As listed on the "What's New" page, three of our members had hole in ones last season: Bobby Seekins, Roland Magnan and Roger Moreau. Again, congratulations guys!

Tournament results for the Member/Guest Tournament held on 8/18/07 were:

1st Gross: Roger Moreau & Rich Wagenknecht (74)
2nd Gross: Matt Robinson & Steve Robinson (75)
3rd Gross: Chris Devlin & Tom Williams (78)

After the tournament, there was a drawing for a Free 2008 Membership. All current members were automatically entered into this drawing. Jim Devlin was the lucky member to win a free year of golf for the 2008 Season. Congratulations to all the winners. A note to also mention was the great meal prepared by Sherry Garton & Laurie Ginn. There were numerous compliments about the delicious food served that day. Nice job, ladies! Tentative date for the Member/Guest Tournament this year will be on Saturday, 8/16/08.

Club Championship Results:

Men's "A" Divison: Keith Lebeau
Men's "B" Division: Bud Rivers
Women's Division: Julie Dow
Junior Division: Spencer Brown
Congratulations to all!
* This year, we hope to have a Women's "A" Divison as well as "B" Division.

Prisco Cup - After numerous match plays over the course of three weeks, Bud Rivers was the winner of the Prisco Cup. Congratulations, Bud and thanks to all the players that participated. There were some pretty intense matches played out.

Sunday Couples League: A lot of members are talking this up and mentioning how they would like to see more participation and what can accomplish that goal. There have already been some really good suggestions regarding prizes, format, and a change of starting time. As the season approaches, we will try to have an informal get together where anyone that is interested can stop by, share ideas to help get this league in "full swing". We have a lot of new members that are couples and who have expressed interest in playing on Sundays. It is definitely a lot of fun and a good way to end the weekend. And, you may have friends that are not members that would be interested in stopping by to enjoy the fun of Sunday afternoons. If there are any golfers out there that are interested in playing some type of a role in the organizational part of this league, let us know. Please feel free to call with your ideas & suggestions prior to the start of the season. A special thanks to Chris & Maggie Devlin who were always here on Sundays (with Chris being the one to organize the game of the week.). Also thanks to all of you who participated in this Sunday league.
